Campus Safety Steering Group

The Campus Safety Steering Group was formed in 2023 to oversee safety on campuses throughout the West Virginia University System.

The group is tasked with enhancing the safety and well-being of our campus communities by continually evaluating and enhancing safety initiatives, community outreach and engagement, training opportunities and communication. Four specifically tasked sub-groups bring ideas and needs to the Campus Safety Steering Group which makes recommendations to the University through the University Planning Council.

Campus Carry Sub-Group

Responsibilities	Chair	Members
The Campus Carry sub-group is charged with reviewing the requirements of Senate Bill 10, the Campus Self-Defense Act, on higher education institutions. It will make recommendations to the steering committee and engage stakeholders in the decision-making process. It will meet on a regular basis as the University approaches the July 1, 2024 deadline.
